Au Petit Versailles du Marais boulangerie is my recent Parisian discovery and obsession. I am extremely picky with food and I kept coming back over and over (and over) again.
This cafe/bakery is a little old school place in Hôtel de Ville area headed by Christian Vabret (boulanger and pastry chef, founder of prestigious French School of Bakery & Pastry Aurillac and creator of the first Bakery World Cup where I’d love to be among the jury, just saying). The interior is wonderful: crystal chandeliers, walls and ceiling beautifully decorated with original paintings.
On the menu: all kinds of breads, baguettes, quiches, pastry, cookies, sandwiches and (my personal reason to come) delicious cakes. The place also serves decent coffee, hot chocolate and other beverages, you can stay inside or take a place at the outdoor terrace.
My personal Au Petit Versailles du Marais favorites are: Mère Supérieure with dark chocolate mousse and red berries & 2000 Feuilles filled with crème pâtissière and strawberries, both pictured down below.
Summary: great stuff, reasonable prices, central location. Highly recommended if you are in the area.
